Who We Are (And Have Been)

This is our group, including those who have departed our ranks for their own reasons. There were two groups who merged: the original travelling troupe of entertainers, and the group of people who met on the boat to Nuln. Plus others who have joined along the road. And now the few remnants of that first merged group have met with several new people and formed yet a third group, now following Miyara Miwa in Nippon.

Name Origin Why they're here, plus random notes
Donku Nippon Donku is a Nipponese cook. He was serving on the ship that whisked the group from Tylea to Nippon. Sun hired him away from the ship on their arrival, so he is now Miyara Miwa's cook. He's skilled in the use of pans and knives, and not just for cooking.
Grieg Voldemeyer The Empire In a desperate escape from Imperial forces who wanted to arrest him, he jumped farther than he meant and fell out of the sky into the water near the ship carrying everyone else to Nippon. Miyara Miwa, who tends to collect odd people whom Fate throws at her, accepted him into the group.
Mehli Tashonai The Sea Elves Mehli is a disgraced sea elf simply wandering the world for fun. For now, she travels with Phoebe, the "flaky half-elf", with whom she has formed a strong relationship. Phoebe's beliefs are compelling, and Mehli finds herself questioning her own assumptions about the nature of reality.
Miyara Miwa Nippon

She was following a prophecy to recover a long-lost statue, which pushed her to find "a leader of men, an orc, King Og".

Having lost her charge, whom she accompanied originally as his guard, she continued to follow the prophecy to find the statue for him. The group of people she was travelling downriver with attached itself to her (from her perspective). Although full of comtempt for these western barbarians, she is a warrior who has been trained both to fight and to lead, and instilled with a sense of responsibility for those she leads. She also believes very much in Fate, so she continues to lead this odd group of people on quests that interrupt her own search because each one seems to come to her with a larger purpose.

Having recovered the lost statue her charge was searching for, and having aided in the destruction of the Crystal of Chaos, she has returned home. She has given the statue over to her father as well as an account of her heroic cousin Miyara Kyosuke, who died while destroying the Crystal. She and those who follow her are now acting on behalf of her father, The Miyara.

Peter Popoff ?

Peter Popoff is a well-known faith healer. Having lost his faith, he now wanders, trying to escape the goddess Shallia, who will not leave him alone. Although he can no longer heal anyone (or at least he doesn't), he does have the power to give his own personal strength to those who need it. Together, Ravenna and Peter can heal anyone at hand of anything just short of death.

During the months-long ordeal after the destruction of the Crystals, when the party had to make their way, starving and injured, through the heavy winter in the mountains to the Druidess in the Yetsin Valley, Peter had to reconsider his ways. Bound to keep his charges alive no matter what, he swallowed his pride and offered himself to Shallia again, who rewarded him with her powers once again. He was torn between settling down to offer his services to the church and continuing his wandering through the world. Miyara gently suggested he remain with her and Sun as they travel to Nippon. And so now he aids Phoebe in her healing efforts.

Phoebe Kislev Phoebe is a half-elf with a strong belief in the world of the spirits. She is following a spirit who has directed her (so she believes) to follow Miyara Miwa to Nippon. Along the way, she found Mehli Tashonai and has formed a strong attachment to the sea elf, whom she is convinced is a "spirit". Although her talk of spirits seems just this side of insanity, she has some powerful abilities that seem to back her up.
Anthony Tagliaboschi (Tony) Tylea by way of the Border Princes Tony is the last surviving member of a mercenary company, and he is far older than his seventeen years. He follows Miyara Miwa, figuring a woman who carries two swords is bound to run into trouble sooner or later.

Gone But Not Forgotten
Name Origin Why they were here, why they're gone, plus random notes
Ashe Somewhere in the forest not too far from Nuln.

He had a prophecy, to find the paper-carver.

Having found her, he continues to remain with the group she leads. He takes responsibility for watching over her. He speaks little, with a heavy stutter, and vastly prefers open spaces and wild areas away from people. He is a skilled wood carver and gets along well with both the druidesses we've met so far. He reveres birds and considers them to be voices from the gods (true at least part of the time, since at least one druidess tends to use birds as her chosen messengers).

In the battle with the beastmen, he came to believe that Carmella is the physical manifestation of Tzeentch, the god of fire and flames. Who's to say he's wrong?

After our intrepid heroes threw the fused Crystals of Chaos through the hole in the universe, thus stopping the chaos storm and impending doom, Ashe was among those in the party who was claimed by the chaos in the Crystals they had used too often in their battle against chaos. Ashe was consumed by flames, almost immediately rendering him into a greasy smear on the deck and a few ashes blowing into the wind.
Bark ??

In the spring after the Battle of Eyrie, the Druidess sent Bark with Sean to help him find his way back to the travellers. Feeling that her orders to help Sean were not finished, he continued on in their company.

He is young, still in his teens, and thin, not having finished growing yet. He shrouds himself almost completely in rough clothing made of leather. He wears a hood, gloves, boots. One can only gain a peek at his face, which is covered by a very thick beard. He is skilled in woodscraft, being able to track, hunt, set traps, field-dress the prey, and tan leathers. He uses carved stick at his belt to throw in battle, although he always seems reluctant to fight, and tries to talk the travellers into making peace instead. With the proud Miyara leading the group, he will not often be successful.

After our intrepid heroes threw the fused Crystals of Chaos through the hole in the universe, thus stopping the chaos storm and impending doom, Bark was among those in the party who was claimed by the chaos in the Crystals they had used too often in their battle against chaos. Bark disappeared in a gush of water, leaving only his empty skin on the deck.
Carmella Bretonia

She was an acrobat in the original troupe of travelling entertainers, which found ways to get into trouble when its manager disappeared with all the money.

She is devoted to her sister (Ravenna), who had joined the troupe shortly before the manager's disappearance. They are actually twin sisters, although they look nothing alike. They had different fathers: Carmella is half-elven, small and painfully thin. She has an inborn ability to cause heat, and therefore fire, in any small concentrated area. A certain red crystal has attached itself to her and she has wreaked a fair amount of havoc with the accidental (and not-so-accidental) fireballs she has thrown. Carmella assumed the title Queen of Yetsin Valley after Og's death, presumably because he had made her his Chancellor. No else seemed eager for the role, anyway.

With the Crystals gone and her sister dead, Carmella has recovered somewhat. She'll never return to her old self, but she is now mourning her sister normally. She has decided to remain with the Druidess, as long as their is a place for her. She can be useful here.
Eisenfindel ??

He was part of the original travelling entertainers. He disappeared when part of the group was captured by ogres, and has never been seen since.

He was a lute player and a skilled archer. Sometime after the battle with the dead and the goblins, something about him changed. He could not play the lute, gave up the bow, and spoke strangely.

After Og fell in the battle with the orgres and Carmella nearly fried Ravenna, he and the halfling manager of the entertainers ran out of danger, never to be seen again.

Goldrim ... ??

He had a vision that told him to seek out a certain group of people, and found them on a boat to Nuln.

He is an albino dwarf and the gods send him visions, which can be cryptic but have served to push the group along on their destined path. He is incredibly strong and a skilled fighter who can bash just about anything to simthereens. He is also a trained metal-smith.

Goldrim stayed behind in East Egg while the others liberated the air ship without permission and took off to destroy the Crystal. After our intrepid heroes threw the fused Crystals of Chaos through the hole in the universe, thus stopping the chaos storm and impending doom, Goldrim was among those in the party who was claimed by the chaos in the Crystals they had used too often in their battle against chaos. When they returned, it was only to find a crumbling clay statue of Goldrim, a look of horror on his face.
Brother José Estalia

He is on his acolyte's journey as a new monk of Varina.

He is elderly for an acolyte: he had a very long mis-spent youth as a con-man and a forger. He wishes to atone for his past indiscretions, and is now a monk devoted to Varina, goddess of Truth and Justice. He was on his way to Eyrie to research magic and chaos. He is a licensed mage, which means he's the only one of us who can legally and openly perform miracles.

José was claimed indirectly by the chaos. Before the destruction of the Crystal, his fish-creating spell had been tainted, and he dropped fish everywhere he went, uncontrollably. With the Crystal gone, so is its effect. Sadly, Brother José still believes he is badly tainted by chaos, and is convinced he still drops fish along the way. He has decided to stay with the monks of Varina at Eyrie, hoping that they can remove the taint he imagines he has.
Jason Featherhand Somehwere very far away

He was hired as a guard for the original troupe of entertainers. He became their leader when the manager disappeared, although he happily abdicated that position when Miyara Miwa rescued the first group from the ogres that had captured them and joined the two groups into one.

He was from somewhere south, far away, and was nearly as black as the night sky and completely hairless. He wore a highly polished helmet and was skilled in fighting with many weapons and as well as any object he might pick up at any time. He was very strong and was known to throw the smaller and lighter members of the group across rivers and such.

He died a hero at the Battle for Eyrie and was buried in one of their crytps with much honor.

Miyara Kyosuke Nippon

He was searching for a master to properly train him in his chosen fighting style, which is in disrepute back home.

That master was an orc named "Og", who also featured in his older cousin Miwa's travel. He followed her for two years without being seen, then finally was compelled to join in a fight on her side. He now travels openly with the group. Although the clown-fighting master Og was dead when they found him, Miwa still searches for the statue, and Kyosuke naturally remains with her.

Kyosuke's fate was, perhaps, sealed when he developed wings. Although Ravenna prevented him from immediately killing himself over the dishonor of becoming a beastman, he and Miwa both knew what would be necessary if destroying the Crystal did not return him to human form. The Crystal made that choice moot, however. After our intrepid heroes threw the fused Crystals of Chaos through the hole in the universe, thus stopping the chaos storm and impending doom, Kyosuke was among those in the party who was claimed by the chaos in the Crystals they had used too often in their battle against chaos. His wings had remained, but before he could borrow Miwa's katana, he and Ravenna both poofed like dandelions in the wind; only a few dust particles remained to float away.
Mongo ??

He was running from trouble back home and joined the group on the river near Nuln. When he received word that he was no longer in trouble, he returned home.

He is an excellent cook. He is now the cook for the Red Bull Inn in Kreuzhofen, which now belongs to the group of travellers.

King Og ??

Og was an orc whose fighting style also leant itself to entertaining, and he was part of the troupe. He died heroically fighting too many ogres with not enough assistance.

Og also mysteriously changed around the same time Eisenfindel did. Og seemed to become much smarter, and he kept insisting he was the reincarnation of the last king of the Yetsin Valley. Spurred by this, the troupe went to Yetsin Valley, which they discovered was a wilderness full of chaos, and they found the old tower, still standing (mostly) in the middle. Few travel there, and the group inspires both awe and fear with their stories of the place.

In the battle with ogres at the Dwarven shrine, Og fought valiently, and died a hero. His body was returned to the tower in the Yetsin Valley.
Omi The New World

Omi was with us only briefly, due to a broken arm, while we were in Kreuzhofen. He remained when we left for Eryie, still healing in Kreuzhofen. He had vanished when we returned in the spring

Sean O'Brien Albion

He is a talented musician travelling with the group. He remained with the druidess after being held captive by ogres.

He plays the lute and has a beautiful singing voice, but is blind. He joined the group along the way and stayed for quite some time. The group does little entertaining anymore, and being literally dragged through constant battles was not what he wanted from life.

However, in the spring after the Battle of Eyrie, he rejoined the group, having had a prophecy that he would discover what his magic box is for if he did so.

Having used his magic box to travel backwards and forwards in time, he decided it was in the world's best interest if we ceased doing so. To avoid the temptation of using it and spreading chaos further, he retired again to the Druidess' temple. He has now left and gone south to Freeport in search of answers, and left the party a note with the Druidess inviting us down should they be interested.
Elvish Prestley ??

He was a prestidigitator in the troupe of entertainers.

He is an elf, and is as small as a child. He is skilled with his hands, whether with card tricks or lock picks. He also has penetrating vision, and can see through solid surface for several yards, which could cause him no end of trouble if the ability were publicly known.

He died when we retrieved the final Zoggin Rock, the Crystal of Water. He was poisoned by a noxious gas released by Hargrim's tomb the rest of the party just managed to fight off. Of course, Ravenna tried to heal him, too long after his death. The last the party saw of him, his animated body and his spirit were wandering separate. Is he still out there somewhere, stuck between death and the afterlife?
Ravenna Bretonia

She had joined the troupe of entertainers her sister (Carmella) belonged to so she could travel and heal people.

She is a trained monk of the Biancan order, sort of this world's equivalent of Doctors without Borders. She is trained in self-defense, but is a pacifist and will only fight to defend either herself or anyone she considers under her care. She is forbidden to use any kind of weapons for any reason at all. She is a skilled physician, and also has peculiar abilities in healing diectly with her mind, which could easily get her burned at the stake. She is also devoted to her sister, and struggles mightily against the red Crystal of Fire's hold over Carmella. Much to her discomfort, she has found herself holder of a similar crystal, the white Crystal of Air.

Despite her best efforts, she found it necessary to use the power of the Air to aid her companions again and again. After destroying it, she vowed to herself to finally retire to Kreuzhofen and establish a Biancan Hospice, where she could also make a place for her damaged sister. However, her constant use of the Crystal took retirement from her. After our intrepid heroes threw the fused Crystals of Chaos through the hole in the universe, thus stopping the chaos storm and impending doom, Ravenna was among those in the party who was claimed by the chaos in the Crystals they had used too often in their battle against chaos. Ravenna and Kyosuke both poofed like dandelions in the wind; only a few dust particles remained to float away.
Stojko ??

Stojko joined the group on the boat to Nuln, and departed when we left the druidess for Kreuzhofen.
